The grant agreement signed with Impact Fund Denmark will support the reconstruction of the main water supply pipeline in Pervomaisk, a city in Mykolaiv region.
Nefco has signed a grant agreement with Impact Fund Denmark to support the reconstruction of the main water supply pipeline in Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region. The project is part of Nefco’s Green Recovery Programme for Ukraine, which supports the restoration of critical infrastructure to help strengthen the country’s resilience.
The signing took place at the ReBuild Ukraine Conference in Warsaw, Poland, an international platform focused on the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, public services and energy systems.
The initiative is financed under Denmark’s commitment of DKK 108 million to Nefco’s Green Recovery Programme for Ukraine. The total budget for the Pervomaisk project is approximately EUR 4.0 million, of which EUR 3.6 million will be provided as grant proceeds by Impact Fund Denmark. Pervomaisk City Council will contribute EUR 0.4 million as local co-financing.
The project will involve the reconstruction of an 8.8 km underground water supply pipeline from the city’s Water Treatment Plant to the clean water reservoirs. This investment builds on a previous EU-funded project in Mykolaiv region, which supported the reconstruction of the Water Treatment Plant in Pervomaisk. With the new funding from Denmark, the city will be able to fully operationalise the improved Water Treatment Plant and ensure reliable access to drinking water for all residents.
Expected results include:
- Reductions in electricity consumption by 726 MWh per year
- Water savings of 1.2 million cubic metres annually
- CO₂ emission reductions of 581 tonnes per year
- Improved water supply for approximately 35,000 residents, including around 6,650 internally displaced persons
Implementation is scheduled to begin in December 2025 and be completed by December 2026.
