How can essential water services be maintained during wartime while laying the foundations for long-term recovery?
This hybrid discussion, part of the Danish Ukrainian Human Bonds engagement initiative, will connect participants in Copenhagen and Mykolaiv through UN Live’s digital portals, creating a shared space for dialogue between Ukrainian and Danish stakeholders. Representatives of municipalities, water utilities, public institutions, technical experts and Nefco, will exchange experience, discuss ongoing initiatives and current challenges and explore opportunities for future cooperation between the countries.
Drawing on projects in the Mykolaiv region managed by Nefco and financially supported by Denmark, the session will highlight how local expertise, international partnerships and targeted financing can help strengthen water resilience and support communities in challenging circumstances.

The Human Bonds Initiative, taking place during Weeks 37-38, is an engagement platform for all Danish organisations supporting their Ukrainian counterparts in the reconstruction and recovery of Ukraine. As part of this, the Museum for the United Nations – UN Live is working closely with these organisations to facilitate meaningful encounters between Danes and Ukrainians, fostering human connections across borders and highlighting the important work being done. Through UN Live’s digital portals in Copenhagen and Mykolaiv, participants meet face-to-face in real time, creating a shared space where people can exchange everyday experiences, hopes, challenges, and stories of resilience.
